Made to measure
Louis XIV’s Versailles is a perfect example of what leadership can achieve. In 50 years this sovereign built the archetype of the Château, modele for many other palaces across Europe such as Schönbrunn in Vienna or Peterhof in St Petersburg.
This half day tour is tailored to discover how, Versailles, capital city of France for over 100 years, became a strategic tool for keeping the aristocracy under the gaze of the Sun King and the showcase of the French court in Europe.
We will visit the King’s State Apartments, the Hall of Mirrors and the Queen’s State Apartments. As we progress through the reception rooms, we will evoke royal lifestyle, gastronomy and fashion.
We will also have a look at the French style gardens designed by André Le Nôtre with the perspective on the Grand Canal, the topiaries and the fountains using the gravity system.
A full day allows, in addition to the visit of the main palace and the groves, to explore the Trianon gifted to Queen Marie Antoinette by her husband Louis XVI and the Queen’s hamlet.
